UNIVERSAL MALL had its beginning in the Warren area in 1965.  In 1979 Crowley's was built and additional mall space was added. In 1990 Universal Mall was completed with the addition of Cinemark Theatre, adjoining mall shops and a Food Court area.  The mall has seen many changes over the years.  Area residents who were babies at the time the mall was built now shop with their children.

In October 1999, Universal Mall Properties purchased the mall.  Tender loving care was definitely a must!  The ownership and staff has been on a fast track ever since.  Repairs, cleaning and painting were top priority.  We all boast our property is 'clean and inviting', both inside and outside.  Features include updated common areas, refurbished storefront area, remodeled restrooms, revitalized courtyard areas, new landscaping, and we are not done yet!  Our next effort was to increase the awareness of the 'new Universal Mall' and entice exciting new merchants to join our family.  Within a two-year period, occupancy has increased from 45% to 75%, attracting new and old customers alike.  In September 2001, the new 75,000 square foot Burlington Coat Factory opened for business and in 2002 A.J.Wright opened their 25,000 square foot Department Store.  They have joined our anchors,  Value City, Kroger's and Cinemark Theatres.  Plans are presently underway to redevelop the former Montgomery Wards area.
